BANGKOK – The North Face® Thailand announces the launch of The North Face 100® Thailand – Thailand''s first 100km Ultra Marathon. Part of the biggest trail running series across Asia Pacific, The North Face 100® Thailand offers aspiring trail runners and seasoned racers the ultimate challenge, a 100km run. The inaugural The North Face 100® Thailand will take place 4th February at Amphawa in Samut Songkram Province.
Imagine running the length of a soccer pitch 1,000 times. That''s 100km. The North Face 100® has come to Thailand.
The Ultimate Trail Running Challenge is a grueling 100km test for athletes from around the world. Scheduled to start at 05:00AM on Saturday 4th February, the current The North Face 100®’s world record, set in Australia, stands at 9 hours 19 minutes and 6 seconds. The Thailand 100km solo run is by invitation and application, and runners must finish within 18 hours.

The first Thai national to cross the finish line for the 100km solo will be sponsored to represent Thailand in The North Face 100® Grand Finale in Beijing. In other categories, over 800,000THB of prizes are on offer.
The Ultimate Trail Running Challenge will take place in the picturesque Samut Songkram Province, an area southwest of Bangkok famous worldwide for the Amphawa floating market. Event Ambassadors for The North Face 100® Thailand include well-known Thai marathon runner Mr. Boonthueng Srisang. Boonthueng will enter the 50km trail run which is his longest competitive distance and this will be his first time trail running. Ms. Genevieve Jane Irwin (Jenny), ex-VJ on Channel V and lover of all kinds of extreme sports, will challenge herself in this her first trail Ultra Marathon.
The North Face 100® Thailand will take place 3rd – 5th February 2012 with a pre-event pasta party and expo on 3rd February, the trail run on 4th February and an awards brunch on 5th February. Only registration for 100km solo closes 1st December 2011.
